8 of the Best Professional Books for
6th Grade Teachers
Sometimes I think it’s hard to tell which teachers love more – school supplies or books! I think it’s tight race if you ask me!
There are SO many books about there. As a newbie teacher your time is limited, but you are desperate to get your hands on as much information as you can. Good information.

Below are all books that I have read and have influenced my teaching style and strategies. Most of them I have read more than once. Some of them I’ve come across in more recent years and have found them to be comprehensive and valuable.
Before you Step into that Classroom might be an old one, but it was a fun read. When I was in college, an family friend who was a retired teacher gave me this book. He had read it himself, highlighted what he thought was important text and even left me notes and tips in the margins. How awesome! This is another one that I would re-read each summer to help me get back in the groove!

Here's another newer book I wish was around back in the day. This is quite the comprehensive guide for first year teachers. The First Year Teacher's Survival Guide. Full of details to consider and ready-to-use forms many new teachers don't even realize they need or have the time to make for themselves. Super helpful.

Rookie Teaching for Dummies. Honestly, I think the idea of buying a book for myself that is titled "For Dummies" is a little... weird. But I love the style of these books. So easy to reference and find particular segments of information. It's not one of my favorites, I think because it can be a bit too wordy for my taste. But it is full of good information.
